Project MUGA (Multi-Use Games Area)

The project was first conceived in the summer of 2018 with the aim being, to create a resource that enables us to both deliver high quality teaching and provide better play opportunities for our children. As the project has progressed, so has the vision. Realising the quality and potential of this resource, we have now began to share it within our community with a scope to widening that group. We do this by hosting a growing variety of events and sessions that can be accessed by children and adults  from ours and neighbouring schools (please see Events and WSA).

Phase One – MUGA Courts Metal Works

The first phase is the installation of 2 Multi Use Game Areas with built in storage and nets for football, basketball, netball and other sports. COMPLETED March 2019

Phase Two – MUGA Storage and Equipment

The central reservoirs are to be used for equipment storage. We will be investing in storage and new equipment to be able to teach a wide variety of sports. COMPLETED August 2019

Phase Three – MUGA Courts Surfacing

The next phase of the development will be to install new surfaces on the two courts. We are looking into different types of surfaces (AstroTurf, 3G, Play carpet) which are durable and suitable for our needs.

Phase Four – Lighting

To ensure that we can offer sporting opportunities all year round to our children, community and associated affiliates. We will be looking to install low level lighting for those winter months.

Phase Five – Maximising the MUGA's Use

To maximize the usage of the MUGA courts we will invest in game boards to have placed around the outside of the courts (www.Playinnovation.co.uk).
