Welcome to Nursery

Welcome to Nursery. In Nursery there are lots of people who help you with your learning – Miss Talbott, Mrs Walker, Mrs Ali and Miss Heard on a wednesday.  

Curriculum

To ensure that children who stay in Nursery for two years are not studying the same topics twice there are 12 topics one for each of the twelve half terms in a two year cycle.

The Autumn 1 topic is ‘Getting to know you".  The first half term of Nursery is spent settling the children in. We support the children to establish positive relationships with adults and peers.  We teach them to access the resources and learn how to use them effectively to create independent learning opportunities. The children are supported to develop their communication and language skills and develop their physical, emotional and academic independence.  As part of our topic we spend time learning about each other’s favourite food, toys, colours, animals, activities and books and read a selection of different texts linked to these themes.

Things to Know

P.E Days

P.E and Edible Playground sessions will alternate between AM and PM sessions, this means that part time children will have either a P.E session or an Edible Playground session each week.

P.E Days

Tuesday: AM and all day children

Friday: PM and all day children

Please remember that your child will need to wear joggers or leggings with socks (no tights) on P.E days as the children will be using climbing apparatus and taking their shoes and socks off. No earrings of any kind can be worn on a P.E day.

Library:

Wednesday: AM, PM and fulltime children

Please remember that your child will only be able to take home a new library book if the old one is returned on or before their library day.  New books will be sent home on the day after the library session to allow staff time to sign out books.
