Our vision for Snaresbrook Primary School is for our children to be able to politely and articulately share their views in a respectful way. All children must understand that you do not always need to agree with the opinions of others, but you must respect and value their opinion. We want all children to be clear, confident speakers. Pupil Voice Representatives are elected by their class to represent the views of all children. They must be an exceptional role model of our school values and have a positive attitude towards all aspects of school life.
Pupil Voice Aims and Outcomes
1. To raise awareness of the Pupil Voice
2. To allow children to become more responsible and actively involved in the decision-making process of the school
3. To develop pupils' effective speaking and listening skills
4. To develop important life-skills that promote positive mental health and social welfare, emotional literacy, critical and moral reasoning, self-esteem, self-awareness, communication skills, relationship skills and assertiveness
5. To develop the pupils’ recognition of themselves as worthy individuals with a right to be heard
6. To develop the pupils’ knowledge, skills and understanding of how to contribute to society as a whole and what it means to be an active citizen
7. To allow the children to have a “voice” and to share their opinions and ideas with others
How are Pupil Voice representatives elected?
Elections for the Pupil Voice representatives are held every year in the Autumn term. If they have just served on the Pupil Voice for the previous year, we ask that the children do not stand again for the next year, as we think it is fair to give different children the chance to take part.
To stand for election, the children need to prepare a short speech to persuade their class members to vote for them. The children may also prepare a campaign poster. The candidates are asked to think about what makes a great Pupil Voice representative – perhaps they are full of good ideas, a good listener, or maybe they are good at organising events and enthusiastic about making Snaresbrook even better.
After they have shared their ideas with their class, everyone in the class is asked to vote. The elections for Pupil Voice are a good example of democracy: this means everyone in the class has the chance to be involved in deciding who will be the Pupil Voice representatives, as everyone has a vote.
We use different coloured counters representing the different candidates to reduce paper wastage and encourage a better carbon footprint. All tokens go through the slot and into the same box. The votes are counted by the teachers. Our elections run just like the General Election that decides who is in government for the country.

Planting Wild Flowers
The Pupil Voice have been planting wild flowers to encourage bees and insects in our environment. We have planted a wild-flower bed by the front gates in a formerly disused area.
Bee baths
The Pupil Voice have created some bee baths to place around the playground. They would like to do more, so if you have any spare plant pot dishes at home, please send them in to school. They would also appreciate any stones or pebbles.
Healthy packed lunches
The Pupil Voice have worked really hard to encourage children across the school to have healthier packed lunches. It is important to think about the content of each child’s lunch and how the healthiest food will benefit them during the school day. Healthy packed lunches means no chocolate, crisps or fizzy drinks.
Foodbank Reverse Advent
A huge thank you for your kind donations for the Reverse Advent Calendar. The items are taken to the Redbridge Foodbank and are always gratefully received. Thank you to our school community for your generosity.
Planet Superleague
Planet Super League is an online tournament where children take part in fun, weekly, educational activities for six weeks. They can lead their families at home to inspire changes that can have a big impact on the environment. Why not join in with thousands of other families having fun and doing their bit!

Road Signs Update

Pupil Voice are always looking for ways to improve road safety. The signs pictured below were brought in to make the roads safer by school. There has been an improvement in the road safety around school, but someone has mentioned that they have seen an adult knock them over and drive straight through them ! Please be mindful of this. |
