Admissions to Nursery

The nursery has a total of 72 places, 36 per session. We offer a range of options for our Nursery children including 30 hour funded and non-funded places:

 Option 1: Daily three hour sessions 08:45-11:45 (15 hours) (5 mornings, term time only)
Option 2: Daily three hour session 12:30-15:30 (15 hours) (5 afternoons, term time only)
Option 3: Monday to Friday 08:45-15:30 (30 hours of Government funded Nursery education and 4 hours of lunch time care) or (15 hours of Government funded Nursery education and 15 hours of paid for Nursery education and 4 hours of lunch time care) (5 days, term time only)

Our admission places are based on the following criteria in the September following 3rd birthday

  • "Looked after children", that is children who are in the care of the local authorities are defined by section 22 of the Children Act 1989 and who are confirmed by that local authority to be expected to be still in public care when due to be admitted to the Nursery
  • Exceptional medical or social reasons, which should be supported by a qualified professional directly involved with the child and will be considered by the authority's medical or psychological advisers.  Only where it is agreed that the admission to that Nursery is essential will an exception to the general policy be made.   
  • Siblings, with preference to the older children according to their date of birth, preference will only be given to those with siblings who will still be in attendance at the date of admission
  • All other applicants, with preference to older children according to their date of birth and distance from home to school.

Admission to School

Admission to the Reception classes are managed through the Local Authority. There is no automatic right of entry for nursery pupils to the school and an application process is undertaken.

All reception pupils are admitted in the September of the academic year the child becomes 5 years. This can be a phased entry for parents who request this.

Families who move to the area and require placement for pupils mid-year must contact the Local Authority admissions department:
